About the Everpure Claris X-Large Filter Cartridge
The Everpure Claris X-Large is an ion-selective filter cartridge for water that feeds coffee, espresso, hot drink and steam equipment. Everpure says it tailors the carbonate hardness of the water. It is rated for 1,585 US gallons (5,999 litres) on espresso and 1,900 US gallons (7,192 litres) on office coffee service, at up to 1.0 gallons a minute.
Claris comes in three sizes. This is the X-Large, at 18.56 inches (47.1 cm) long. We choose the size from your machine's water use at survey. We supply, fit and service Claris. See the other sizes below, the Claris head datasheet, or the whole Everpure range.

Typical applications
Who the Everpure Claris X-Large is for
- Cafés and coffee shops with espresso machines, where water hardness affects the machine and the cup.
- Office coffee service operators with bean-to-cup and hot drink machines.
- Kitchens with combi steamers or self-cooking systems, subject to the capacity and bypass charts for steam.
- Hot drink vending and brewed iced tea operators.
- Sites that want the cartridge changed by volume or once a year, whichever comes first.
How the Everpure Claris X-Large Filter Cartridge works
Everpure describes a five-stage process: prefiltration, carbonate hardness adjustment, fine filtration, a highly efficient carbon block, and a solid membrane filter. It removes particles down to 5 micron and reduces unpleasant tastes and odours. NSF International certifies the cartridge under NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for chlorine taste and odour reduction.
The head has an adjustable bypass, with a key and tamper-proof settings. That sets how much of the water is treated, which tailors the carbonate hardness. Everpure says the capacity figures assume influent water hardness of 180 ppm with standard bypass settings. For steam applications and other hardness levels, use the capacity and bypass charts in Everpure's installation and operation guide.
Everpure says not to use hardness test strips to check the reduction, and to use a titration kit instead. It also says not to use the system with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after it.
Which one should you choose?
The three Claris cartridges differ in size, flow and capacity. The right one depends on how much water your equipment uses. We size it at survey.
Claris X-Large
You need up to 1.0 gpm and 1,585 gallons on espresso (1,900 gallons on OCS and coffee).
Claris Medium
You need up to 0.5 gpm and 660 gallons on espresso.
Claris Large
You need up to 1.0 gpm and 1,100 gallons on espresso.
Installation and servicing
Everpure's installation tips: the system can be run freestanding, lying horizontally or mounted vertically. If you mount it on a wall, fix the mounting bracket securely with suitable screws. Water pressure at the inlet must not exceed 116 psi (8 bar), so fit a pressure reducing valve on the supply side if it does. A shut-off valve must be fitted upstream of the filter. Follow the installation, operation and maintenance manual to flush and start up.
The cartridge is 18.56 inches (47.1 cm) long and 5.35 inches (13.6 cm) across. It needs 4 to 30 °C water and 2 to 8 bar pressure, with no electrical connection. The Claris Gen2 head has a 3/8 inch BSP connection and is 5.3 inches high, 3.9 inches wide and 4.9 inches deep (13.5 × 10 × 12.4 cm).
Everpure's operation tips: change the cartridge when its pre-calculated water volume is reached, or at least once a year. Always flush it at installation and at every change. We set the schedule at survey and change the cartridges under a maintenance plan. The survey is chargeable and is credited back if you go ahead.

Everpure Claris X-Large Filter Cartridge questions answered
What is the Everpure Claris X-Large?
An ion-selective filter cartridge that adjusts carbonate hardness in water for coffee, espresso, hot drink and steam equipment.
What is its capacity?
1,585 US gallons (5,999 litres) for espresso and 1,900 US gallons (7,192 litres) for OCS and coffee, based on influent water hardness of 180 ppm with standard bypass settings.
What is the maximum flow?
1.0 gallons a minute (3.7 litres a minute).
Can it be used for steam?
Everpure lists steam cookers, ovens and combi steamers as applications. For steam and other hardness levels, it says to consult the capacity and bypass settings charts in the installation and operations guide.
How often should I change it?
When its pre-calculated water volume is reached, or at least once a year. We set the schedule for your site.
How do I check hardness reduction?
Everpure says not to use hardness test strips. Use a titration kit instead.
What head does it fit?
The Claris Gen2 3/8 inch BSP head, which has a flush port, auto shut-off, an adjustable tamper-proof bypass, and flow and backflow restrictors.
What is the pressure limit?
29 to 116 psi (2 to 8 bar), non-shock. Fit a pressure reducing valve if the inlet exceeds 116 psi.
Can it be mounted horizontally?
Yes. Everpure says it can be freestanding, lying horizontally or mounted vertically.
Is it certified?
NSF International certifies it under NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for chlorine taste and odour reduction.
Do you supply, fit and change it?
Yes. We supply the cartridge and head, fit them and change the cartridges under a maintenance plan. The survey is chargeable and is credited back if you go ahead.

Supplied, installed and serviced across the UK
Across most of southern and eastern England, mains water is very hard. Rain filtering through chalk and limestone dissolves calcium and magnesium, and that scale coats heating elements, so we size every system to your supply and your equipment.
